About me

Luis Alfonzo artist photo

Luis Alfonzo is a visual artist and professional engineer. He was born in Venezuela, but currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut.

His formal art education began at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, where he was introduced to traditional visual media such as: acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Luis attended the University of Connecticut and majored in Civil Engineering / minored in Digital Arts, where he was introduced to digital media such as 3D modeling/rendering as well as sound and video manipulation.

Luis prefers painting with oils and acrylics, and intaglio printmaking. Life is too short to not diversify your mediums, creativity, and mind, so whenever he feels he’s being redundant or repetitive in his art, he likes to take a step back and reevaluate.

Luis is currently working on a series of paintings that ties his bridge engineering career with his visual styles. He is also working a series called Inside-Out, which reflects on the topic of sanity and mental health.

Luis’s art isn’t always for sale, but sign up for the mailing list to find out more.
