Olson's Covered Bridge crosses a private pond in Deep River, Connecticut. Built in 1993, it's a 15-foot stringer bridge, one of only a handful of covered bridges in the state. Its red timber siding and diamond-shaped openings stand out against the pines and the still water below.

In this painting, the scene is pushed into saturated color beneath a sky that shifts from green to blue to pink. The title is a nod to science fiction: the luminous streak overhead reads as a cosmic force, visiting.
