inside out - series
Contemporary surrealist realism series in which highly-rendered containers — bowls, mugs, shakers, mailboxes — sit at the center of dreamlike fields populated by a consistent maritime vocabulary of wooden harbor piles, buoys, and watchful birds perching silently or surveying the scene from above – all infrastructure designed to orient, warn, and mark depth, surrounding vessels that are nevertheless empty, overwhelmed, or unable to contain what they were designed to hold. The birds are the only living witnesses to this failure, neither helping nor fleeing, simply observing — a quietly devastating visual metaphor for the struggle to maintain stability and sanity in environments that offer all the right guidance and still leave you submerged.

Keep salt on your tongue,
ease fire down into the chest,
tart lime rescues taste
to kill the lingering burn
bravely swallowed in one gulp.
